Obituary of Dorothee D. Schriever

Dorothee Schriever, age 90, of New Hyde Park, NY, beloved wife of Rev. Henry Schriever, was called home on March 17, 2024. Dorothee is survived by her husband Henry and her children Jonathan, Faatimah, Paul, James, and Karen, as well as 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Dorothee grew up in Hollis, Queens, where she attended Andrew Jackson High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Hunter College and a master’s degree from Manhattanville. Dorothee served as a missionary's wife in Tokyo, Japan, and later moved to Chappaqua, NY, when her husband was called to the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. There, she faithfully served as the preschool director of the Village Nursery School for 15 years. She continued to serve faithfully at several churches when she and Henry moved to Long Island. Dorothee enjoyed singing and was active in several choirs. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Services will be held at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Williston Park, NY, on March 22, 2024, at 10 am. All are welcome to attend.
